Via Crucis and Merits

Via Crucis is a tradition of the Roman Catholics in remembering the sufferings of Jesus before and after his Crucifixion. And St. Joseph College - Olongapo Inc. High School Department yearly does such activities to penitent.

Actually, I'm not really into these kind of traditions. I'd rather spend my time on computer than staying under the sun. So, if you're asking if this is not my kind of thing, why it is in my blog? Well, I would like to share something very adventurous involving this event.

I may not be one of the cast of Via Crucis, but I could say that I had the toughest job for the day. Since I'm one of the Honor Guard trainees ( CAT ) that didn't join the event, I promised to attend Via Crucis to help the staffs. It is a good thing that out of 3 students that promised to come, I was the only one who kept that promise.. Something good returned to me.. But I was so badtripped because they promised to come in exchange for 10 merits and they broke that promise. I want them to have demerits doubled on Monday. But on the bright side, I am really thankful that they had never attended.

It was Good Friday, April 10, 2009, I was late for the call time that Sir Steve ordered me to come. The call time was 500 hours and I came to school 600 hours. I was 1 hour late. But it is an excuse that I have waited 2 hours for a jeepney to come. Well, what do you expect? It is Holy Week. As soon as I arrived at the school gate, I went to the Social Hall. There, I approached Sir Steve to verify that I had arrived.

The Via Crucis started at 700 hours. Sir Steve ordered me to approach the Directors of the Via to help. And then one of the directors ordered me to go to the coordinator. He just ordered me to ride the Patrol Van which I never followed. Instead, I joined one of the Dumbguards in controlling the crowd.

We're at the 2nd Station when one of the staffs of Via ordered me to Go back to the 1st station carrying an extension which he used in his videocam. That's the start of my job. I looked like a Personal Assistant of the cameraman. I felt like everything is in a rush. And everything I do must be fast. My job is to get to the station before the cast does and ask if I could plug the extension for the Videocam. Run, ride the Patrol Van, ride the motorcycle, and lots of run. That's what I did the whole time. Every stations of the cross, I was there. From the school grounds and up the mountain, I was there all along. It was really not an easy job.

After the play, we went back to the Social Hall. I was shy to come inside because I was the only Honor Guard that was there. But as soon as the staff that holds the camera saw me, he approached me and gave me MERITS!! Lots of MERITS!! Yeee!! Can you see the picture at the top? Our Corr Commander gave me 30 Merits in return for my effort. Then 20 from Kuya Mozo, The cameraman. I think Mozo is his name. And then the lowest merit is from Sir Steve, 5. Not bad.. Hahahaha!! But i really deserve it!! Have a Blessed Holy Week!!
